Teams begin the game with incomplete information, tough goals and a lack of resources, and then must struggle, haggle and trade their way to the highest catch of fish they can. But there is a “catch” - they must also win the endorsement of the other teams in the room to pass both goals...

Will your people burn relationships to achieve their goals? Will they go soft on goals to keep everyone happy? or can they do both?

The stormy Berlugian Sea is alive with fish. For the majority of the year the Sea is a marine conservation zone, but for four short weeks each year it is opened to a select fleet of fishing boats to catch as much as they can, provided they adhere to the Code of conduct.You have a prized invitation to this year's season, and your crew are ready to take on the challenge of Grimsby's Code.To succeed you must catch as much fish as you can, and you must show you live by the Code. Overview

This Pod&Hive simulation thrusts participants into the turbulence of rapid assimilation of information, inter and intra team tensions and the need to make decisions, get things done, and be held accountable for the way they do it. Reinforced by rigorous debrief, this immersive themed experience will challenge your team to work well together, and with others, and leave them reflecting on their leadership style.

Grimsby’s Code is built on the time honored tension of Agency (our ability to get things done) and Communion (our ability to get on with others), the core of organisational performance assessment for decades now. Can you get both done - deliver the financial target, and win the approval of your peers as well?

Outcomes

Grimsby’s Code has a flexible debrief that can be customised to meet your learning needs or conference themes. By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Have experienced the tension of achieving demanding results while adhering to a code of behaviours (the “Getting it Done” AND the “Getting Along”);
  • Have experienced first hand the value in working collaboratively even when striving for individual goals;
  • Have had to balance meeting a target as well as difficult production deadlines;
  • Discovered how everyday complexity can get in the way of the best laid plans – and the importance of adapting flexibly;
  • Have a great deal of fun!
